2023-24 SEASON

As always, we have Junior teams across all age groups entered in the England Hockey Junior Cup competition as well as the North West Junior League this season.  These are all co-ordinated with other Player Pathway events through the England Hockey centralised calendar.

England Hockey Junior Cup Competition 2023-24

We have entered the following teams into the EH Cup this season:

U18 Boys – Tier 1 and 2
U18 Girls – Tier 2
U16 Boys – Tier 2
U16 Girls – Tier 1
U14 Boys – Tier 2
U14 Girls – Tier 1

We will also enter U12 and U10s when they take place in the spring.

You can read more about the Cup competition here. Note that changes have been made to the U16 Tier 1 competition this year to align it with the Supra leagues – more information here.

North West and England Hockey Supra Leagues

This North West league aims to give boys and girls age groups more opportunity to play together as peers. They are for competitive U16 and U14 age groups and we are entered into either Tier 1 or Tier 2, depending on player numbers, player availability and overall squad standard. The NW league U14 teams play regional fixtures before Christmas, and then the top two from each Tier 1 league enter a national ‘Supra League’ from January which could involve fixtures against clubs further afield.  Other Tier 1 teams continue with their fixtures as part of Tier 2 after Christmas.

We have entered the following teams:

U16 Boys Tier 1/2
U16 Girls Tier 1 and 2
U14 Boys Tier 1
U14 Girls Tier 1

EH Cup and NW league matches take place approximately every 3 weeks on Sunday afternoons.

You can read more about the North West Junior leagues here and you can view all leagues and fixtures here.

Team principles and selection

Cup and league teams involve selection of the strongest players in an age group – although commitment is also important. Each age group includes two year groups (year 8/9 for U14 and year 10/11 for U16) so there may be some spread of year groups depending on level. Our professional coaches work with volunteer coaches and managers select squads in an objective way and in accordance with our player development and selection principles.

Players not selected will be given the opportunity to play in the U14 mixed team in the GMJHL and can also take part in Monday and Thursday U15 intra club gameplay sessions for more experience.

For information about the selection criteria for age group teams, please contact Dom Maguire. More information about your age group squad and team fixtures will follow via Club Buzz and Whatsapp.
