EH Cup and NW League Competitions
We have Junior teams entered in both the England Hockey Junior Cup competition as well as the new North West Junior League this season.
England Hockey Junior Cup Competition 2021-22
You can read more about the Cup competition here and the rules that apply to both this and the NW league competition are here. This year, the Cup is a knock-out competition with teams losing in the first round entering into a plate competition. Dates are not always known a great deal in advance but are always on Sundays, so keep in touch with your team manager as they will communicate them as soon as they know. This year, we have entered the following teams into the EH Cup competition:
- U18 T1
- U16 T1 and T2
- U14 T1
- U18 T1
- U16 T1
- U14 T1 and T2
North West League 2021-22
This league competition is new this season and the purpose is to give age groups more opportunity to play together as peers – as they are often spread across teams for Saturday fixtures. NW leagues are only for U16 and U14 age groups this season, and dates are spread so they do not conflict with the EH Cup fixtures. Teams play regional fixtures before Christmas, and then the top two from each league enter a national ‘Supra League’ from January which could involve fixtures against clubs from further away.
Club coaches select squads for these matches and those selected are expected to do all they can to attend training and play in matches. For information about the selection criteria and our policy for playing up an age group, please contact Dom Maguire.
